It started out as grey,

light.

But as the storm rolled in,

the grey turned to black.

It was blacker then black.

Consuming you until you ceased to exist,

playing with your mind until you screamed.

Then it swallowed your screams,

and it swallowed your cries;

and it swallowed everything you had left.

You couldn't find your way if you tried,

because everywhere you look is the same.

You couldn't even be scared of your own shadow,

and as close as you listen, there isn't even the sound of of silence,

it's shrill chaos...

and deafening quiet,

all at once.

It's the darkest of darks.

Now I'd give up anything...

to go back to the grey.
