Eyes open and focused
Blinking frequently at the start of a notice
A hardening greet, starting with a turn of a knob
Hands too tense, feels of fingertips throbbing
anticipating, what's next
A hello? A sigh?
A day to show you've missed me all this time?
Or a hug for relief, releasing the pain of kid
formed from a "man"
Whom once said "I'll always be there, when you're growing up
I'll be there to wipe off the tears
then help you understand, how it is to grow up."
If only..... he got a chance to say it
Since he's always too busy, to comprehend that
I've began to lose my sanity
thinking just to clarify, that it's all bad
You aren't even really busy
You chose to terrorize all those feelings
I couldn't dare to lose
but, you ignored me so many times
just to become a man who only understands
that a deadbeat DAD, WILL NEVER STAND
at the fact, the oldest is raising his own kids
Teaching them all about
being a man you could've been
Raising these magnificent kids
So as I wait for the turn of the knob
My mind flicks, into variations of how it could go
As expected, I should wait
and contemplate with a stranger
A conversation, forget it
I can question this or that
Not even a subtle feel that I'll complete that favor
So, as the doorknob slowly turns to a click
I stand up, taking a deep breath in
and confidently exhale out
"Goodbye."
