The Girl Whose Problems Caught Up with Her
A Dark Piece of Poetry That We All Can Relate To
I never imagined the day where she would leave, without a fair warning. I remember how she left, without thinking how it would affect me.
I couldn’t help but feel that she always kept things from me, that I only knew half of who she really was. People speculate as to why she left, a demolishing rumor, or a terrible threat but, no, that is not how it happened. She wasn’t afraid of spiders, or the darkness. She was just afraid of those tenacious enough to try and brand her as a safe without a lock. They came close, but she would rather leave than stick around to confront people. But running from your problems is not an acceptable way of dealing with them. They’ll get angry and hunt you down like a pack of wolves. But if she’s good at anything, it’s running.
I sit in my demure house, and gaze outside my candle lit window, waiting to see her run through the open field. But she is just a vision I mistake for a memory. A coy smile, hair flamboyant like the sun. But despite all of her flaws, she is a part of me, and always will be. I can’t help but feel partly to blame because I am the one who forced her out, who spilled her dirty secrets. But I didn’t speak of that to anyone, no one but her.
That girl is gone, and rests in the pit of my conscience, while a new one rises up from the ashes. And I can’t help but wonder, who am I?
