The Garden of Life

A poem about the journey of a man through love.

As I walk through the garden,

the garden of life,

I touch the sweet roses,

and twirl in delight.

We play until darkness,

they promise me love,

but when the night falls,

I see only stars above.

My roses have gone,

but I feel the thorns still,

I jump back in pain,

missing the morning's thrill.

I scream to the stars,

"where has my love gone"

they stay eerily quiet,

and keep shining on.

The clouds in the night,

gather up in a storm,

rain drops together

with my tears do form.

And as the wind howls,

I hear from the moon,

she tells me sweet child,

you gave up too soon.

That love is pure bliss

is talk of the fools,

love is more than that,

love has no rules.

Love is not love,

it's hardship and tears,

Love is more than love,

it quells all your fears.

Love is transparent,

your good and your bad,

it bares its all,

so don't get mad.

Your love showed her petals,

you called her your sweet,

when she trusted you with her thorns,

it was no small feat.

You jumped back in pain,

rejecting her bad,

What you called love,

was just a small time fad.

As the moon went away,

and the sun came to light,

I saw my sweet roses,

had suffered from blight.

The bees buzzed in sadness,

the grass had turned down,

the sun always cheerful,

had on a big frown.

He roared from above,

about the fool of a man,

who promised a life of love,

without a solid plan.

Now the red roses,

lay dried and dead,

and the foolish man who didn't learn,

always remembers what they said.

And over some time,

the roses revived,

there came a new man,

who loved her for life.

The fool watched from afar,

as she bloomed for the man,

and he cared for her thorns,

true love between them, ran.

As he walks through the garden,

the garden of life,

he now loves his flowers,

in day and in night.
