there is a fire inside of you
not a blue flame from a gas stove
not a small glimmer from a match
not a butane burst from a cheap lighter
but a campfire
a campfire surrounded by people you love
they are strumming guitars and singing
stories are told
riddles asked
memories shared
love felt
all around your central flame
you crackle and burn
and they add more wood, more air
as they can't bare to see you fade
you keep them warm
and they keep you going

Stuck in Place
Amy whistled as she walked through her front yard, looking for any sticks she could pick up and throw into the pile she and her brother were making. They had a big windstorm recently; as such, all the trees in their yard had suffered some damage in some loss of sticks. Or perhaps losing those sticks was a good thing since their trees probably needed to be pruned anyway. Amy wasn't sure.
