The Fight
I pray I retain the fight, I know despair, I know emptiness, I want the fight!
I have sighed away too many dares, I have ran from many duels, I want the fight!
I have prayed for the prey, I have been known with pity, I have played the fool, I want the fight!
I have cheered the cheerful losers, I have mirrored the broken hearted, I have subsidized the lost causes, I want the fight!
I have wept for my past, I have cried to old moons, I have mourned all yesterdays, I want the fight!
I have known regret, I have been known by contrition, I have stood by, I have wandered past, I want the fight!
I have been absent, I have exceeded distant, I have nursed solitude, I have flirted with forfeit, I want the fight!
I have lost and not loved, I have loved and not professed, I was in love and not persistent, I want the fight!
I have been a lamb without sacrifice, I have knelt not upon the altar, I have wished and not hoped, I have been tried and not true, I want the fight!
I have smiled without warmth, I have roared without a mane, I have worn shame not a crown, I have abdicated not ousted, I have placated not debated, I want the fight!
I have sat not sang, I have dreamed not chased, I have longed not pursued, I have withered not spent, I have watched and not danced, I want the fight!
I am precious but not fragile, I am dented not broken, I am eager not famished, I leap not fall, I stride not shuffle, I seek not retreat, I have the fight!
