The Faucet

It’s running.

I wish feelings were a faucet

So I could turn them off

I’d rinse the warmth with cold

And freeze the negative thoughts.

I wish love was a faucet

I’d rinse myself every minute

I’d be drenched in self love

I’d be my own best friend.

If strength was a faucet

I’d keep the water pressure up high

Pressure would rinse my weaknesses away.

If my heart worked like a faucet

Everyone would know its purpose

They’d know I live to reach out to them

So they never have to feel like me.

I’d rinse my sleeve with the faucet

So my heart could roll away

Because I’m “too sensitive” they say.
