The Fall

An Inspirational Poem

She stands on the edge,

Looking down,

All these people talking,

She hears not a sound.

One day they'll care,

One day they'll know,

All of these feelings,

She just can't show.

This lurking pain from deep within,

A pain so strong she cannot run,

It's taken ahold, consumed her soul,

Her heart, now icy and numb.

One step will change her whole world,

One step to let herself fall.

Eyes closed, foot in the air,

This time she's determined, she makes this call.

Weight shifting forward,

She goes over the edge,

Lost in a free fall,

She looks back at the ledge.

An overwhelming freedom,

She's never felt before,

Neglected emotions rush their way in,

Finally breaking her down to her core.

The pain is so sharp,

But it's over so fast,

Now enlightened to the fact,

It was HER that made it last.

By letting go, she took control,

She holds the power to make her own choice.

Her heart opens up, the ice melts away,

She has finally found her voice.

True strength she found,

She allowed herself to be weak,

When she reaches the ground,

She lands on her feet.

Brushes herself off,

Leaving her heart on her sleeve,

Tears fleeing her eyes, but with head held high,

She's no longer afraid to be seen.
