The Embodiment of Hope

- Marisa Day

My voice is nothing but a moan in the wind waiting for it to be heard.

While I wait in the coldness of the winter air, I experience nothing foreign except an unforeseen reply in the west.

"I hear you, I hear you," it says as it calls out to me.

As I anxiously try to force a reply through the break of the lonely silence, I exclaim "find me!"

I impatiently wait and close my eyes, inaudibly pleading to the distant voice;

"Please, come free me from the suffocating loneliness that's confined within my heart."

... I stand there silent while the wind blows through my hair and grasps its ice cold tendrils around me.

I succumb and become hopeless until footsteps are heard through the breath of the trees.

I turn around and what to my hopeful eyes should appear but a man.

His long figure wrapped in cozy linens, coated in snow as if he'd been on a long travel, faced about towards me until his bright and relieved eyes met mine.

The solitary range closing in between us, he paused his steps and said to me, "I'm here. I'm here now. I'm here with you... I heard you."

Marisa Day

I'm young, in love with the idea of love, and I'm trying my hand at getting better with poetry after years of doing it mediocrely.
