The Edge of Breaking

Burnin' Love

"She was the prettiest hell I ever been in, I didn't mind burning at all."

Her breath was cold as if her soul was frozen,

Her trust was broken and her lips were burnin',

Her feet were sore from all the walking.

Her heart was just on the edge of breaking.

He took the rose and laid it down,

Then looked at her and said;

"I feel no shame nor regret for the words that once to you I said

And as I lay in my bed I think of the love we once had

I think of you, I think of me, I think of how it used to be.

I think of all the fights we had and how we used to so sad."

SHE TOOK A BREATH AND SCREAMED OUT LOUD

"Sweet demons appear in your eyes,

To your touch I'm nothing, I'm paralyzed

I am under your spell there's no return

So I just lay here and let it burn.

How can I love? How can I trust?

When all I do is bite the dust

When love can leave scars for life

And into trust, you don't just dive."

"I don't get it and I won't

How could it be so easily blown a candle I lit so long ago?

And now it lies on your cold crypt next to my soul you once ripped

Next to the words you once slipped into my heart sorrow you dripped.

I think you have something of mine,

Something you stole somewhere in time.

And I need you back this time.

I need you to look into my eyes

Like sunflowers look towards the sky."

He shed a tear and left the yard

But her words were never heard

And his heart will always hurt.
