The Difference

What Separates Me from You

By Macy MillerPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

as i looked back on the intricate details of our love, i realized the root of our differences. as i thought through the polarity of our opinions, words began to flow and so i wrote:

you lusted.

i loved.

you saw the surface

i saw the realms

hidden away in your mind.

you wanted to touch

but i wanted to feel.

you were running

with nowhere to go

and i was left far behind.

you were a vessel

almost crushed beneath the waves

i was the cliff

beaten but steadfast.

you sought the simple things

comfort, a body, a feeling

similar to your drugs-

the ones you ran to when we ended.

i wanted more

love, protection, hope

now i realize,

i can have all these things

without you.
