The Devil's Chokehold

A Normalized Tragedy

She has the ocean in her eyes and the moon by her side. She dances with the devil every night and they all turned their heads when theirs lip’s inner-twined.

She's as gentle as a feather. She's brighter than the stars. She was an artist and a sculptor. She painted him right into her poorly sculpted heart.

He didn't care but she played his games. She wouldn’t give up. So it stayed the same. It got harder and harder. That's when she fell in love. Some how she fell for him. She fell for the worst kind.

Yes, the worst kind.

Weeks later she found out why.

The oceans in her eye’s quickly turned to sand. The moon set within her and it didn’t rise again. He broke her and tore her in half. He gave her all she ever wanted but took all she ever had.

Words didn’t add up and the lies turned to stone. She wanted to leave him this time. But he wouldn’t let go. He was poison, he was toxic, he was a snake wrapped around her bones.

This is the tragedy of a girl whose soul once held the entire world. Maybe one day she will rise again. For the devil shall never win.
