The Darkness Inside
A Short Poem About the Darker Parts of Our Souls

I look to the light.
I look for hope.
I look for love.
I seek adventure into the darkness,
I raise my hands to feel.
The darkness is inside me
I can’t escape its hold
I try to fight it,
I try to hide from it.
But it keeps calling to me.
It keeps following me.
It will never help me.
It will only consume me.
Darkness is in all of us,
It’s in our power to stop it.
It is our power to banish it,
But the darkness will always be inside you.
Eating away at your soul,
Feeding on your hopes and dreams.
Darkness will engulf your heart,
Darkness will always be clouding your judgment
But we can’t help but enjoy a little darkness.
