The Dark Woods

A Walk in the Woods

The Dark Woods

I saw you standing in the shadows

like some femme fatal

Except you’re a boy

I shouldn’t mess around with

Your lips look so full and soft

my eyes zeroed in

I walked the tight rope

between the real world

and wherever it is you

take me

I felt slightly disembodied

hearing part of myself saying

no

Stop

this is a line you do not cross

I looked at the soft wave of

your dark hair

the clear bright blue of your eyes

Any guilt washed away

when I heard you laugh

I was too mesmerized to care

Most nights, when I close my eyes

I go walking with you

in the woods

I lean back against a tree

You step closer to me

We look at each other

a beat or two

before you lean in to kiss me

your hands cool as they

slip under

my shirt, touching my back

body pressing into mine

Our breathing is ragged

I am so aware

all of a sudden

of the

rise and fall

Our hands are in constant motion

sweeping touches

fingers grasping

You enter me

my back grinds against the bark

Bump! Bump! Bump!

You whisper my name

while I call out to G-d
