Words cut deep, words take away-
the pain, the sadness, the anger
all those negative thoughts
that sink in so deep into your soul
Words take away, words cut deep-
the love, the happiness, the tranquility
all those positive thoughts
that sink in so deep into your heart
Words twist and bend to the will of the poet
while the mind & the heart are enslaved-
and by thoughts alone with each passing
experience one or the other changes
Forever at a stalemate-
the heart and the mind trying to over come
one another as if the two knew the inevitable truth
that reason and passion overcomes sanity
that the mind will corrupt and the heart will break
That sanity is a fantasy, and if such a thing exist
it seem unacceptable-

Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Perhaps one of the best known modern plays in all of 20th century theatre, ‘Death of a Salesman’ is a 1949 play written by Arthur Miller. Set in Brooklyn, it takes place over two acts and portrays the tragedy of the Loman household - specifically that of protagonist Willy Loman. It deals with the crushing of the American Dream and forces the audience to confront the harsh truth about what America has become. It ended up winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play and as it is revived many times we in literature and drama hope it can continue its influence for years to come.
