The Dance
Excerpt from Passion (https://amzn.to/2MX3q8D)
The silence resurfaces;
Its choke hold washes over me,
so loud I need the noise clutter to normalize
Fuck that.
Fuck it all.
Fuck the silence.
HE is in the silence,
SHE is in the silence,
They are in the silence!
It becomes evident to me,
Him,
Her,
Them,
Us—
We are not alone;
That is,
We can’t do this shit alone.
Without an us, there is nothing—
Not even the silence.
They fall apart
Then fall back together
They see the necessity of “The Dance”
Not just a dance for lovers
But a dance
For all who love
Each other
When you appreciate the dance
You can appreciate all.
The colors,
The sounds;
Sometimes they’re vibrant,
Sometimes they’re dull.
When you appreciate the dance
You learn to appreciate the silence too.
They have known the triumph
In the dance.
And the failures
Of coming together, tripping over the other
Or staying apart too long.
And the silence too
The failures and the triumphs
In that fucking silence.
