The Crimson Promise

A Promise by Blood That We Are the Same

A crimson promise, a promise that states that beyond skin color, gender, preferences, and biases, we are the same.

Yet we ignore this promise, fueled by the ignorance of rage and greed. We ignore or hearts, our minds, and our hopes. People say that behind every angry mind there is a saddened soul and a torn heart. Worn by the cruelness of another's harsh words or actions.

They say the behind every greedy mind there is a lost child, one that has never seen much or perhaps was afraid to lose what they do have. So they take all they can have for the simple fact of having it.

We forget so easily to be kind, to be happy, and to appreciate. We ignore our hopes for a better world in the pursuit of desires that are not just.

That crimson promise we have forgotten passes through our generations. We are reminded of that promise which we hold through war, disease, and pain, And particularly, when we spill the blood of our fellow humans

We discriminate, anger, sabotage, betray, and slaughter. We then hide behind the flimsy justifications of preserving our beliefs.

Through all of this we forget that every war waged on this planet is a civil war, that every skin color is human, and that every person bleeds red. To observe our world without prejudice would be to find that we are unreasonable.

We are flawed and we know it yet we do not fix these problems. We would rather be right about life than realise our mistakes. And with that, we as humans, break our crimson promise and will fall into extinction because of our own hands.
