There's a ripple effect deep within
So many stories interwoven
Beaten and broken for love
Cast aside and hated for growth
Change comes and with it comes snickers and stares
Love—we search for in the cracks of our mistakes, our losses
Scars become markers For our journey
Our journey
To happiness
To freedom
To peace
Don't say you'll pray for me when you don't even love me
Don't say you forgive me when you make no effort to come
Don't say you'll always be here when you're only around for the up and up
I'm down deep in the cracks
Looking for myself I'm lost in the crevices of my memories
A maze with no exit
Running, searching for light
A piece of freedom
A glimpse of hope
The cracks are not curses for they are my escape
My fingers grind through the concrete wall of my fears and insecurities
These words look for a little light
These cracks become my outlet
These scars on my heart become room for oxygen to seep in
Your lies, your rumors no longer seal me in
No!
I rise from the cracks
I rise from you
