The Boy with His Guitar

A Poetic Memory

Underneath the shining stars,

Was the boy with his guitar,

Sitting ‘pon his balcony,

Playing a sweet melody.

He never sees me standing there,

Wind blowing through my hair.

Softly along I start to sing

While he plays on his strings.

Slowly, I close my eyes,

Tears fall within silent cries.

My feelings for him never shown

So how would he have ever known?

I never heard the words he said

As I turned away my head.

The music that he once had played

Stopped with guitar gently laid

At his once stilled feet

He quickly moved towards me to meet

On the side path by his home

So that I wouldn’t walk alone.

Silence between us first

Then tears fell with sudden burst

Gently he took me by the hand

And pulled me, embraced to understand.

He knew that I was leaving soon,

Tears reflected by the moon.

His love, he began to confess,

My face within his caress.

Lips gently met with mine

In a show of love divine

“You will never be too far,”

Said the boy with his guitar.
