The Boy Who Waited

You Gave Him Hope

He gave you his trust, his wishes in your hands

But you crushed them to dust, without a second glance

You promised to show him the world, maybe explore the stars too

But you never planned on taking him anywhere with you

The boy full of hope and now filled with fear

He waited for one-hundred years, but you weren’t here

You promised to come back, for an adventure you say

You never did and now in the dark he will stay

He forever believes in your words, his innocence will stay

In his eyes you must come back one day

So he waits on his porch alone in the dark

Waiting for the day you walk down the block

They say ignorance is bliss, but is it really better this way?
