The Best Gift

You're the best gift she's ever received.

Hold her heart more carefully than you held mine.

It flutters at your touch just the way mine used to. It tenses up when you graze the scars of her past; kiss them softly to let her know you can love her past her brokenness.

Let her heart beat freely as you hold it in your hands squeezing it just tightly enough to show you care but gently enough to make her feel safe.

Every pulsation fuels the thoughts and dreams that consume her mind. Thoughts of loving you better than she did the day before. Dreams of fulfilling your every request and desire.

Every pump keeps her body warm as she holds you at night while you sleep. Holding you as if you’re the best gift she has ever received.

And you are.

Cherish her heart more fervently than you cherished mine.

It beats for you just the way mine used to. Pulsating all of her energy all of her being into every kiss she places on your body.

Revere it like your most prized possession; like a diamond made from nothing but dirt.

Protect her heart the same way you’d protect your own; the way you failed to protect mine. Protect it from your anger and frustration when you get upset and let it feel every ounce of love you have to offer. Her heart will remember you long after you’re gone as you are and always will be the best gift she ever received.
