The Best Adventure

The best adventures I’ve ever had

Were my worst days,

And the long nights,

And the even longer years.

It was the recovery,

And the tears,

And the growing pains,

And the fight to live.

The best people

Were the people who hurt me,

And broke me,

And left me on the edges of pathways.

They taught me to me value the ones who stayed,

Who fought,

Who were honest,

Who accepted me.

The best souvenirs were

Learning to cry,

And the lesson to love,

And the scars.

You see, the adventures I’ve been on,

The ones we all must take at some point,

Have changed me for good

And bad.

But that’s ok.

I am no longer who I was three years ago.

I’m not even the person I was yesterday.

I am always learning,

Always changing.

Through the hurt,

And the loss,

And the good times filled with love.

Because that is what this adventure is for.

The one I have tried and failed to give up on.

The bigger picture that ties us together.

Life.

By far the best adventure we’ll ever have.
