The Beast

A Poem

The wind blows over the ocean.

It sends the boat along.

It sends the boat its destiny

Within a pirate's song.

Come one, come all,

The lyrics say,

To join us on this glorious day,

But better to rewrite what's said

To come one, come all

To be as dead.

For though the sky may shine with sun,

The clouds will come to cover anon,

And with those clouds will come the rain,

And by a Beast you shall be slain.

For from the depths the Beast shall come

And grab you in its claws

And drag you down to the ocean floor,

Where your bones shall lie forever more.

And none shall know your sorry tale,

But over your grave the boats shall sail.

And those that join you in your state

Are those that have also chosen their fate.

For by sailing over the ocean,

When the sky fills with rain,

You'll meet your end,

For with the Beast,

There's no doubt you'll be slain.
