The Battle

For Souls

I hear you screaming my name,

I hear your cries.

When I approach to see, you’re strung up for all to see.

I help your disentangled corpse.

I nearly fall trying to set you free.

Some how, some way I am able.

As I guide you to safety, as I grab you securely.

Then suddenly I hear faintly laughing. I Hear you say, "are you going to help me?"

I keeping moving, with an out of breathe whisper I say, "yes, I got you."

You once again ask, if I'm going to help you, and more tired then before, once again I reply, "yes, I’ve got you."

The closer we reach to safety, the more intense the air becomes.

Fear feels my clouded dream.

Evil laughing echoes in my ear, then I realize it is you.

Only you are no longer you.

You await me at our marked spot ahead.

Now I carry what seems a stranger.

And now, he’s asking, "Are you going to save him?"

It is then I stop and release him, responding, "yes!"

Suddenly there's more laughter, laughing that causes more fear.

It is then I am asked, "do you really think you can save him?"

While once again, my response is "Yes!"

Then fades of laughter whisper, "You better start praying.

You're going to need all the help you can get."

My tears began to fall and I turn to you, for here I am still standing.

For here I am still, trying to save the man I saw fall.
