The Ballad of Voodoo Boy

A Poem

BEFORE WE BEGIN, IT HAS TO SAID,

THAT VOODOO BOY HAS SAWDUST AND CLOTH FOR A HEAD.

HIS BODY WAS MADE FROM AN OLD DIRTY SACK,

HE HAS BUTTONS FOR EYES AND PINS IN HIS BACK.

HE HAS DISPENSED UNCLE JOE AND BUMPED OFF AUNT SUE,

HE CRUSHED GERRY'S THROAT 'TIL HIS LIPS TURNED BLUE.

FOR VOODOO BOY IT'S ALL IN A DAY'S WORK,

BUT AT TWILIGHT HE INVADES DREAMS AND RUNS 'ROUND BESERK.

SO IF YOU DISPLEASE ME, OR MAKE ME CRY,

YOU'LL LIVE TO REGRET IT AND THIS IS WHY.

I KNOW ALL YOUR NEEDS, YOUR WANTS, AND DESIRES,

BUT IF YOU UPSET ME, VOODOO BOY GOES ON THE FIRE
