The Ball Is in Your Court
A Poem About Love That Doesn't Love Back
Every time you talk to me
I feel safe and sound
Every time you look at me
I’m lost and then I’m found
Every time I’m struggling
You always break down my walls
Every time I’m feeling weak
You’re the one who calls
Every time I need you
You step up your game
Every time I yearn for you
You seem to feel the same
Until you find your doubts again
And it all starts to blur
You tell me you don’t know anymore
And my stomach starts to stir
You tell me that you like me
And I say because you’re smart
But then you pull right back again
And I begin to fall apart
My best friend is still right there
But my love is no longer
My best friend is full of shit
But it’s going to make me stronger
But later you come back again
And call me honey and dear
No matter how much I like you
My heart floods with fear
Every time you come back to me
I run right back to you
No matter how hard I fight it
I just want to call you boo
No matter how much I hate it
The ball is in your court
I’m waiting for you to love me
But is this just for sport?
