The Alcohol Took Over

A Poem

Wouldn't it be nice to feel numb from the pain,

To escape the tears, to avoid the fears.

The bottles started rolling in, but the pain started disappearing.

The addiction came, the body needed it.

The money was spent, the friends were lost.

The relationships ended.

It took over life so fast,

I promised I wouldn't give up

So I tried to stay

I could see it in your eyes you were hurting,

I saw that you wanted too be free

You didn't notice it was hurting me,

You didn't notice it was tearing us apart,

Well I had to break free.
