The Air in Chile

Poem From Chile

There is something about the air in Chile

or there is something that I feel here; in this air

I am reborn here,

every breath here seems full

seems alive

like when you’re in the sea and you ride a wave

and your spirit breaks free

Every breath here is just like that

it somehow tastes sweet

we are in the car bombing along southward

more south in the world, than I have ever been

I open the windows and the air pours in

like flood gates, breaking thunderously

I am still and then suddenly I am hit

it fills my lungs and the car

my eyes are closed, but my heart is open and

the wind rushing through the car, is clearing out my cluttered thoughts

my worries wash away, and flow like my hair in the wind

I am cleansed here

this air

it fills the car and pins me back to my seat

and I smile

I smile like I haven’t ever smiled before.

Young, Alive, and Free

I can feel these ripples on my skin

Like I’m reborn again in a sea of oxygen

I have awoken to this world
