A painting tells a story.
Behind each gentle stroke and soothing transition of colour is about 101,000 words.
Underneath each coat of paint is a canvas.
A beautifully mended, carefully constructed beholder.
Every picture up for display is never what it seems.
Every picture that we paint is what we allow others to see.
What we allow ourselves to show.
So behind every painting we see, is a story we might never come to know.
And so we'll move on
To the next painting we see
Appreciate the glosses of colour
Before we then proceed.
Every now and then, someone will stop.
Someone will appreciate the picture,
And we'll pray their curiosities don't drop.
Sometimes they're just a passerby,
Sometimes they'll stay for a month.
Then two. Then three. Then four.
And the longer they stay, we begin to show our true colours more.
Our words start to de-fabricate, our story starts being told.
As they add their own colours, another story begins to unfold
And we become so much more than just a canvas with a pretty face.
These times are the best
We find a soul interested in more than what they see
The soul who can read the billions of words masked underneath.
It's beautiful, to say the least,
Finding someone who likes what's outside, but is in love with what's beneath
Our facade of colour
All our hopes and our dreams
What flavour we like our ice cream,
how much creamer to put in coffee
What we love and who we are behind the veil of mediocrity.
But things will not always remain.
The world is a gallery of art, there are paintings all around and across the seas
Eyes will wander. Colours might leave.
But the words will always remain,
you will always be apart of me.
And I am so grateful that I was the painting that caught your eye.
Your words everlasting, your image engraved into my mind.
If you find
A painting much better than I could ever manage.
Then I am happy for your love.
As for me, I will remain the admirer
From as far away or as close as you will let me.
You will always have my colour, my words, and my love will not ever be dropped.
I just wanted to say thank you
for being the admirer who stopped.
