The Abyss

Inside depression

Have you ever been down a hole so dark and deep? Not a glimmer of light... just sadness and grief.

Your will to live lost and your urge to fight gone.....you struggle to distinguish what's right and what's wrong.

All you feel in your bones is to be all alone.... you draw all the curtains...unplug all the phones.

Hurt turns to days...days turn to weeks. The struggle continues; your mind is so weak.

Those around you don't get it, they don't understand. Shake it off they all say, it can't be all that bad....

If you've never been down in the cold black abyss you will not understand the despair that exists.

The screams deep inside you that only want out. The terrible fear, self loathing and doubt.

You hope someday that your tears they will cease....your thoughts are so gloomy you live just to sleep.

The isolation and shame so extreme and severe; you put on your mask....fake a smile for the world.

One day without warning the sun starts to shine. All hope is restored at least 'til the next time.....
