I'd never thought about that day

The day you would leave and go away

Thought I wouldn't survive, wouldn't endure

The pain would be too much that my heart couldn't take it anymore

It would shatter into a million pieces

Or simply just stop

I would join you and leave this world behind

But God nor you had that in mind

Didn't think that day would come

Thought we'd be forever

But our love affair was to be

short-lived together

I didn't think I would make it through that day

Nor the days that followed

My heart was broken, empty and hollow

But that day came and went

and I am still alive

carrying all the love you left me,

knowing your spirit is near,

reminding me I did survive

I will always love and miss you

I'm still sad you're gone away

But I will make it through those moments
