Thank You for the World
You made me feel so gloriously small.
Thank you for the world.
Thank you for making me feel so small and insignificant.
You showed me that there is a whole universe, one that doesn't care about my actions, or my words, or my shortcomings.
Thank you for teaching me just how
horrifyingly,
intimidatingly,
gloriously,
extensive the world around me is.
Thank you for letting me lay my head on your lap that beautiful day in August, as you taught me about the cosmos.
And I watched the waves on the rocks below us, and I watched your beautiful face light up,
I could see the stars dancing in your eyes.
And I felt so still.
You made me feel so amazingly small, yet still so part of the always expanding universe.
Thank you.
Thank you for making me look up into the night sky and think about endlessness, and about the millions of possibilities in my life, suspended in front of me just like the stars.
Thank you for teaching me that feeling small can be so amazing.
And despite all of this,
Despite showing me that there is no end to the extent of the universe,
you somehow still give me the entire world.
Thank you for the world.
