Thank You
An open letter to the love of my life.
Discounted wine, half eaten food and a movie plays for us, plays loud.
the picture dance across your face, your smile and I am proud,
For myself to have found someone as gentle and pure as you.
It's cliche to think I would never believe it was true.
On the days where there is a hurricane in my mind and tears in my eyes,
you're quick to hug me, love me, fight me, anything--you try.
You never fight, instead you encourage and strengthen--you empower.
You are no longer a drizzle of anticipation, you are a thunderous shower.
You quench my need for love, my thirst for strong communication,
you remind me who I am, where I've come from and where I am to go,
you are my future, my past, my present, my house, my window.
When I lose track of who I am, when I cannot grasp my own self,
you are there to break down the walls and, ultimately, to help.
You have never complained, even when I drown in self infliction,
you give me nothing but support, cherish me, you're my addiction.
You make me alive, you make me want to climb to the very top,
if only to have you smile from where you tell me never to stop.
I could not ask for another, there's not quite one like you,
there's nothing close, not real or true.
I am lucky that you love me, that you seem to be obsessed,
but not as much as me.
Thank you for loving, choosing and cherishing me--
Please let me keep you, love you, drift with you and cherish you for the rest of eternity.
