Not quite a teenager
Yet your age ends in “teen”
This is for the eigh-teeens
Nine-teeens
Too old to throw the tantrums
Too young to pay the bills?
You will soon be adult-ing
transition-ing
It’s almost like...
you’re teething
Like the time your own face
Was your source of pain
Your decisions
becoming your demise, your
Body its own cancer, your
Desires
Death.
Constantly falling,
Rising!
but falling~~
Your canine tearing through your gum
Will be your new habits struggling to form, grounding
Breaking, roots
Deepening, seedling
Sprouting, fretting about this dying parts of your cotyledons, you’ll
Never get to see the records your setting
The new you green and growing, growing but
slowly.
You would wonder does growing have to hurt this much, your heart
Shredding at every mistake you ever made
The time your paid your bills too late
getting evicted
wearing that outfit to an interview
That addictive lover
Ruining your credit,
never getting a credit
plates laying in your sink like the slime in Frankenstein’s brain. You
WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!
Sometimes...
,you will get it right
You will meal-prep accurately
Plan religiously
your bank account will sing
organization like a domino advert
you will wonder why the people around are not feeling the pain of a new tooth.
This... is weird
You’ll say.
I always wanted to be like them - adults
Achievements arranged in a row of set white teeth
To have a set purpose like the roots of my enamel
But... but...
I never knew it hurts this much to
adult.
So use this term now while you can
to absolve yourself of any responsibility.
Say them after me
“give me a break, i am teen-ending”
