Only to end up on the floor, with him on top
Bruises and bleeding, handfuls of hair pulled out
You just want it to stop, but it does no good to shout
The pain that you feel, the tears that you cry
He stands and looks at you, then starts to lie
He's so sorry, you did it, you made him this way
It wouldn't happen if you'd listen, then you wouldn't have to pay
No privacy at all, not even for a sec
Continuous phone calls, and hundreds of texts
Your self-esteem gone, your life spiraling out of control
Everything's on a downhill roll
You live a double life at work and at home
Your heart is broken, you feel so alone
You try harder and harder, to make him happy, so it will stop
You keep taking the beatings, instead of calling the cops
I know all of this because, I was there
Got to the point, I just didn't care
Life gets much better, but you have to get away
Live your life happy, day by day
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence takes many lives every year. The pain from abuse last for a life time. Reach out to victims of abuse and encourage them to get out of the violent situation.

Domestic Violence If you look up domestic violence, you will find: Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior which involves violence, physical, sexual, or psychological abuse against an intimate partner. If you ask anyone that has been through it they will say it is hell. You never know when things are going to explode. You walk on egg shells continuously, and try to keep the kids quiet, food made, laundry done, lunch packed, and on an on. You are responsible for everything and nothing better go wrong or it's on you.

Reaching Out
I promise her. I'd do anything for her. She's my mom. Even as Lanie and Deanna are flying home, Mom is scrappy fighting dying. She lays too still in that too-big bed with all the toasty white hospital blankets, in the south tower, at the broad end of a long slow-turning corner that delivers me again to her private room with the view she can't see through, with the beeping that tells us nothing new, and all these ice chips she can't swallow, and a flood of well-intentioned nurses who cannot do a damned thing all the same.
