Tears for My Daughter

A Poem

Tucked inside of me I can keep you safe,

But I fear for your heart little one,

Because the world you are about to enter is an entirely different place.

Nurturing and guidance have been entrusted to me,

A task I fear I may fail at,

Dreading, watching your tear stained eyes cry out for relief.

How will I protect you?

Evil, hatred, and deceit abound,

I am but one person, responsible for carrying the weight of your world around.

So before you are born and the struggle begins,

I shed tears for you my daughter,

Doubt and fear rolling down my cheeks,

Because you are all that matters, I will be everything you need.
