Waking up Within the Dream

I can almost see the Hunter.

I’m being bothered by a dream

That takes me to the edge of madness;

It happens when I’m waking up,

‘Cause I’m waking up within the dream.

If I lay down to sleep at night,

I never know when it’s tomorrow;

And so often, when I wake up,

I just want to run around and scream.

~

I am troubled by the mem’ry

Of moments missing from a lifetime;

Then I look in through a window

And convince myself that there’s a scheme.

I can almost see the Hunter

Encroaching in on where I’m hiding;

I was fighting for survival

But was interrupted by the dream.

~

I’m certain that if someone else

Were here to share the mist and shadow,

It would animate my senses;

And it wouldn’t be as it would seem.

Perhaps you’ll see the shimmer, and

You might be charmed into the wonder;

And then I would quickly exit

And abandon you within my dream.
