Sweet As Sunshine, But I'll Turn Overcast

A Warning to My Next Lover

Like a diamond I shine and glow

Beautiful, but you don’t know

My mysterious ways, drawing you in

It’s complicated, now how do I begin…

Meeting me will change your life…

You’ll be sure you want me as your wife

You’ll fall fast, soon be my past

Sweet as sunshine, but I’ll turn overcast

Empty promises get me by

Feeling nothing as I watch you cry

I string you along, when I want to say goodbye

Always ends the same, but I’m not sure why

I tell you I love you, give the best of me

We make the perfect couple, everyone can see

Keep up my act, maybe two months or three

Feeling, smothered and trapped, like a prisoner I flee.

If you meet me, please guard your heart

Have a fun night, then turn and dart

Don’t fall for my smile and big doe eyes

Don’t become a stat like the other guys

please let me pre-apologize

If you get trapped in my web of lies.

My poisonous love, beautifully disguised

Empty promises get me by

Feeling nothing as I watch you cry

I string you along, when I want to say goodbye

Always ends the same, but I’m not sure why

Fooled like the rest, you’ve been fooled by the best

I'm Sorry for the aching pain in your chest

Heartache, heartbreak, call it what you want

As the love of your life, I’ll forever haunt

No girl can come close to what we had

Call it sad, call it mad, you can blame my dad

For his was a love that I never had

But we text twice a year, so it’s all good

I’ll copy, paste and send him my childhood

Shoulda, woulda, could

Maybe that’s what he thinks

Nah, the happiness comes in his 40 ounce drinks

And my happiness comes from what, I don’t know

Leave the past in the past, and let my heart grow

The broken pieces, no one can sew

My love life is a fucking shit show

Empty promises get me by

Feeling nothing as I watch you cry

I string you along, when I want to say goodbye

Always ends the same, but I’m not sure why
