Sunshine

A Poem

He will never know.

Nor will I ever tell him.

He who could care less.

About a woman's feelings.

He who only knows.

How to destroy one’s soul.

I look to the past.

And wonder how blind I was.

He was so perfect.

But he was covered in warts.

He always seemed kind.

Only he was full of lies.

Will love find me now?

Only time can really tell.

I’ve yet to believe.

I am lost in the darkness.

Where the sun won’t shine.

I have longed for its bright light.

One’s only purpose.

Is to bring me safely home.

Four years way too long.

Yet I wait and hold to hope.

I dream of the light.

For it guides me through the thorns.

And there at the end.

Is where I will find my true prince.

Where the sunshine is.
