SUNSET SOMEWHERE
I wish I could live in the country
Birds chattering in the distance
Telling tales of golden crumbs
But pausing at my insistence
To bathe in a sky of azure
To believe that scarecrows dare
To swoop and arc like swallows do
Without a single care
To lie beside a magic stream
That shines like glass that's twisted
To hear the secrets of the trees
Things I never knew existed
On the verandah shines a smiley sun
My chair rocks sweet and slow
Sweet bourbon burn but Nature turns
O Summer, please don't go..
