Stubborn

Like the sea

Photography by me.

I tried to move her with me

But she stands like an island in a hurricane.

The rain is bitter with my tears,

And wind howls my pain.

Her cliffs stand against my waves.

Still I beat hopeless pleas against her.

Nothing bends but the pebbles and leaves of her words that whip through me like daggers.

I flood her with my heartache and it rolls off back to me.

The wind calms,

And the rain has died.

It means nothing to an island,

Rooted in her ways,

Capable and stubborn.

Trees may sway but the rocks do not bend to the will of the wind.

I am worn.

I am tired.
