Struck the Waves

Canvas Paint

She struck the waves

Bashed her head against movement and wept like everyone was gone

Screams and sounds I'd never known until that day

Repeating the question

Why

Over and over

again and again

But never receiving any comfort

I couldn't hold her

When pain runs that deep and a glorious release such as that is happening

The body shakes uncontrollably

Hands clench looking to corrode anything that wants to continue

The pullback of the tide was soft

Waves swished in and swirled the sand around our feet

I kept wondering what to do

I kept wondering what was true

She became the ocean

Left the body rag dolled on the beach and split her soul into atoms

Melded into the movements

flushed herself far out into the expanse

We said our goodbyes before her dance

She cut the canvas

Told me this painting was a mess of emotion

we smiled

But I often wonder What she was trying to convey

Every line had its purpose

And some I never knew
