Strength

Meaning of the Word

Strength.

I have strength.

I have 5 feet and 9 inches worth of strength.

I have a strength that screams and yells.

It argues with me more than I'd care to tell.

I have a strength that sits down and cries.

Acknowledging that tears can fall from strong eyes.

I have a strength that always puts me first.

It knows what can happen if I'm at left at my worst.

And yes I have a strength to fight this world.

To stand up, and protect my baby girl.

My strength is large, powerful, and yet, it knows when to step back and let someone else handle it.

I have a strength that pushes me.

It expects nothing less than what it knows I can be and it applauds me when I surpass the levels of even it's belief.

I revel in my strength.

No matter what it is there.

Because at the end of the day, my strength never ever fails.

It holds open doors and slams them in people's faces.

It cradles me as I break down. Whispers it will all be OK.

You've done this and so much more for me

I thought before you that I was strong, knowing now, that I was wrong.

True strength is what we have.

The ability to simultaneously lean on and hold each other up. The power that comes from relying on another even though you're fearful of trust.

The strength is not you. It is not me. It is us.

WE have strength.

It is with this strength that we will fight through it all.

Through the pain, the joy, the hurt, the anger, the uncertainty of where we will fall.

With your hand holding firmly onto mine, it won't matter.

We can't be broken, we can't be pushed aside, nor can we be ignored or forgotten.

This power, this strength, this love…

It is what makes us us.

Never will we be able to say we have nothing.

I have you and you have me.

So don't you worry about tomorrow, it will come with new struggles no matter what we do.

And don't you worry about yesterday because that's something we've already been through.

And even more importantly do not worry about today because standing next to you is strength.

5 feet and 2 inches. Worth. Of. Strength.
