Still Standing

Here

I won't let you tear me down.

I may bend,

but I won't break.

I'll twist and coil,

but I won't break

under this tension.

I'm like a tree planted

planted by the waters,

I will not be uprooted,

I will not be moved.

I am like a home

made of stone,

I will not shake

when the earthquake rumbles,

I will not fall

when the mightiest wave shakes me.

I am the sand that rests up against the shore,

you may wash away what's on the surface of me,

but the rest of me remains

and, again, I will rebuild.
