He was never going to learn

But still, I stayed.

Both of us horizontal

He grabbed me by the part that I embrace now

The part that my mother told me to lose

The part that I believed had to leave.

He said the words that at the time

Didn’t cross my mind

As the words that I would find

To repeat themselves long

After he’d gone.

Don’t fall fatso, he uttered

As I fell to the ground

I heard the sound

Of my mind shatter.

Even years later

After hoping for a new beginning

He said without thinking

You’ve got bigger, and there was the trigger

Which fired a feeling so loud that I knew

I knew, he was never going to learn

But still, I stayed.
