Still Alone

Forgotten

How can we still be alone?

In this world live billions of people.

Yet all we do is try to beat one another to the top of the steeple.

We see one another every day and pass by one another with a simple hey.

We work together eat together and even play together yet were still alone.

We walk the same streets, best the same feats, and still, my heart beats alone.

Drifting in the background of life, we live in a world of phantoms.

How can we be alone in this world that we call home?

Being all alone is something no one should have to condone.

I see a still world frozen in its own impendence.

This world is ashamed of its own existence.

Why, why must we be alone why must we beg for compassion.

Is happiness something humanity can’t ration?

Day after day week after week the world spins and we grow deeper in our sins.

It’s funny, the more we act out and cause pain for others, the more life bends.

Our lives are so short, and all we do is try to ignore one another.

This is why the world is filled with those who would kill each other.

So my question goes unanswered, and the world grows dark.

Yet still, I ask how we can still be alone.
