Stepping out of Your Comfort Zone
It’s ok to fail, it’s never ok to not try.
We keep everything locked in a safe haven
Trapped in fear of criticism and discomfort
Cynical thoughts poison our judgment
Stuck in a comfort zone full of irritation
Unfamiliarity gives us anxiety
Quickly filled with overwhelming doubt
No matter what we try we can’t speak out
Our minds scream as we sit there quietly
Our safe zone is no longer comforting
We want to expand and share our ideas
We challenge ourselves to not live with fears
No longer affected by negativity
We become a Phoenix from the ashes
We take the pressure to mold into diamonds
Our souls will finally start shining
It is time for our call to action
Challenge yourself to step out of the zone
Do something you’ve always dreamed
Let it fill your self esteem
Don’t be afraid to fail alone
It all becomes a new milestone

The Fish Song
The room didn’t smell like disinfectants. Its fragrance seemed light and not overbearing. A soft mixture of lavender and mint permeated the space. No beeping machines or any tubes hooked up to four-year-old Kaleeka. Her cacao skin seemed to glow from the light over her head. The family, save for one and the doctors and nurses exited the room like a trail of saints showing their last vestiges of regard.
