Sparks

A Poem

A fire burned in my chest

Your eyes held that spark

You were the flint I was the steel

Our lives would collide

And this love

This burning emotion

This fire

That you started

This fire would burn down our worlds

The ashes coveting us

Coveting our lives till we suffocated in it

Until the smoke filled our lungs

Like a drug

I was addicted

The pain of the burn

The heat of the fire

That was my favorite part

But our spark burned out

We fizzled into nothing

Our light was gone

And now we're lost

Lost in the dark

But we were the perfect match

The perfect spark

Maybe that's why we burned out
