Song of the Wind

Poem to the Lost

Upon the high cliffs of rock where

The worlds of land and sea meet

With cornflowers tangled in her hair

A girl wakes from her shrouded sleep

She dances with green feet bare

Through rippling fields of grass while

Singing the song of the wind so fair

That the ocean rolls back into a frothy smile

Sun and moon cross along the horizon in their

Ceaseless exchange and colors spill out on melting shores

Across the churning gray waters somewhere

Below the wildflowers and cairns along the moors

Lilies, carnations, and daffodils fade

While the stone with a name carved long ago

Covered in a patina of moss where she is laid

Remains filled with her bones resting below

The girl catches the wind in her hands

To create a veil of memories and shades

That she spreads over the lands

Singing the songs of those lost to the waves

Upon the high cliffs of rock where

The worlds of land and sea meet

With cornflowers tangled in her hair

A girl sings her song of eternal sleep
