Something Sweet

A True Story

Love is expressed through various ways

Love is beautiful, love is kind

Man, I am smitten for days

Thoughts arise of that special someone wanting to call "mine"

"Speak the truth," my friend exclaims

But is it worth the heartache and pain?

There I sit on my bed, thumbs ready to attack

A symphony of words as my weapon and armor

My phone blinking and urging me to begin

Words are spiraling onto the blank space in full swing

My thumbs are striking each key with such delicacy and poise

A paragraph, finished and all sits in a bubble, waiting to be sent

I let out an exhausted sigh for noise

This is it, the moment I have been waiting for since I first laid eyes on you

My finger lets go of the word "Send," the message is finally released out of my holding grip

Anxiously I wait for a response, maybe a line or two

Maybe something sweet, because it's coming from you

The night surrounds me with such serenity

But there is a collection of thoughts tangling in my head

At last, what seems like forever only takes a few minutes, my phone comes to life with a few buzzes

To my deepest surmise and trembling fingers

It is almost like a dream come true and winning a prize

The words "I know, I like you too" arise
